Do you smell that? Smells…(sniff)…worse than a skunk!!! Smells like…the world reeks with rebellion. I was studying Bible in school this morning and the memory verse I had to learn caught my attention. It said:“In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” – Judges 17:6 KJV
There was a time when the Israelites had forgotten all about God. There was no king in Israel…God was not even their king. There was no one to lay down the rules. Without rules to follow, everyone did what he thought was right. People were practicing homosexuality, fornication, idolatry, prostitution, you name it they probably did it. It didn’t matter what the sin was, they always found a way to twist it to make it seem okay.
Hmmm…this looks like a carbon copy of the world today.
As I ran these thoughts through my mind, I asked myself, how does this apply to our lives today? Then I realized that, as teen girls, we have a serious attitude problem (self included). We love our independence and we don’t like it when we are told what to do. Our entire teen girl life seems to rotate around: boys, friends, texting, make-up, clothes, Internet, parties, etc. I made up my own proverb; it goes like this:
“The FOOL hath said in his heart, it’s all about me.” –A Curly-Top Proverb 1:1
We must stop allowing people, things, and our egotistical attitudes rule our lives. For us, as Christian girls, God must always be King! May we not become like Israel in our hearts, having no king. I pray that you will be touched by God’s Word and obey it ‘…turn not from it to the right hand or to the left…’ (Joshua 1:7).
