Heaven...How to be sure

In order to get to heaven when you die there are 4 things you must understand.

1. You are a sinner.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” -Romans 3:23
Because of the fall of Adam and Eve, every human being is born a sinner. “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world…”-Romans 5:12a

2. The payment for sin is death.
“For the wages of sin is death…” -Romans 6:23a
Realize that there is a punishment for your sins. The only way for our debt to be settled is through payment of death, death is eternal separation from God in hell.

3. Realize that you need a Savior.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” -Romans 5:8
God saw our need. He knew that it was impossible for us to get to heaven on our own and He knew that in order to redeem all the sinners, a perfect sacrifice must be paid. So God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross in your place.

4. Accept God’s gift of forgiveness.
“…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” -Romans 6:23b
God is offering you forgiveness of your sins. Your debt with God has been paid through Jesus Christ His Son.
If you would like to accept God’s gift of forgiveness and eternal life, follow the instructions in the verse that follows:
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” -Romans 10:9
It’s as easy as A-B-C. Admit you are a sinner and need a Savior. Believe that Jesus died for you in your place. Confess with your mouth and ask God for forgiveness.
Here’s a model prayer for you to use as an example:
“Dear Lord,I know that I am a sinner and that I can’t save myself. I believe with all my heart that you love me and sent Jesus to pay the price I deserved to pay. I ask you now to please forgive me of my sins and come into my heart, so that I may, some day, live with you in heaven. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.”
